Because the Pelicans will only have Randle's Non-Bird rights this summer, they can only sign him to a contract starting at $10.4 million. They could free up enough cap space to offer him more than this if they decide not to bring back Nikola Mirotic. I believe Randle would be able to get more than this on the open market, so if I were his agents, Aaron Mintz & Steven Heumann of CAA Sports, I would recommend Randle opt out, unless he really likes New Orleans and wants to do them a favor by letting them keep both him and Mirotic.
