NBA Over/Under Regular Season Wins
Toronto Raptors - 29.5 wins
October 19, 2024
Performance vs. O/U Line Over Last 10 Years (excluding shortened '19-'20 season): 5-4
The Case for the Over
They have some decent talent on this team, and Scottie Barnes could make a leap into someone that is legitimately a future star. R.J. Barrett played well in the Olympics and had some nice moments with the Raptors last year. Immanuel Quickley could grow into an above-average starting point guard.
They tanked pretty aggressively late last season, and are probably better than the 25 wins they ultimately ended up with.
The Case for the Under
Bruce Brown will start the season injured, and this team is already not very deep. I’m not sure I trust Kelly Olynyk, Chris Boucher, and Davion Mitchell as your 6th-8th guys. When guys are injured, they could be playing guys that really are not ready to impact winning.
Yes, they weren’t really trying down the stretch of last season, but this is still a team that won just 25 games last year, and even had Pascal Siakam and OG Anunoby for a portion of the year. Will they really make that much of an improvement?
Conclusion
We haven’t really seen this team together much, considering the trades they made last season and that they threw in the towel for the last portion of the year. This team just feels slightly too talented to have a line this low, and this could go either way, but I like the over. I simply like them more than the other bottom-feeders of the league.
