NBA Over/Under Regular Season Wins
Chicago Bulls - 28.5 wins
October 19, 2024
Performance vs. O/U Line Over Last 10 Years (excluding shortened '19-'20 season): 5-4
The Case for the Over

The Bulls have some young players in Patrick Williams (24), Coby White (25), Ayo Dosunmu (25), and Josh Giddey (22) who could all improve.
It’s possible that Zach Lavine could get back to form if he’s healthy. They might even get something from Lonzo Ball. If that happens, this team could be talented enough to be in the Play-In mix.
This is an organization that tends to try and win, and may not fully embrace the tank to the same extent as other organization.

The Case for the Under
They lost their two best players from last season in DeMar Derozan and Alex Caruso, although a healthy Zach Lavine could replace the Derozan loss decently.
Nikola Vucevic (35) is getting into his mid-30s and could see some age-related regression. Particularly on defense, him taking a step back could cause the Bulls to crumble on that end, and they don’t have Andre Drummond anymore, who was a very good back-up last season.
Their defense could be really bad. They don’t have a positive defender in their projected starting lineup, and only Ayo Dosunmu and Jevon Carter are positive defenders in their rotation.
They don’t have much shooting, and their offense could really struggle because of it. Their three best players are all best with the ball in their hands in Zach Lavine, Josh Giddey, and Coby White.
They owe a top-10 protected pick, and could tank hard near the end in order to keep it, which we have seen teams do in recent seasons with the Mavericks and Jazz. If they are close to this number, they may be decently within the top-10, but the Jazz had the 8th worse record last year and nearly lost their pick, so they will want to be at least 8th to feel good about keeping the pick.

Conclusion

I just don't love the fit of this team, and am especially worried about their depth and their defense. Having a top-1o pick in a strong draft is a big swing for me, as I think it will push them toward the bottom near the end of the season. I like the under.
