NBA Over/Under Regular Season Wins
Charlotte Hornets - 30.5 wins
October 20, 2024
Performance vs. O/U Line Over Last 10 Years (excluding shortened '19-'20 season): 4-5
The Case for the Over

New coach Charles Lee could be a better fit for this team than Steve Clifford, allowing them to play more up-tempo and modern, which might fit their talent, particularly LaMelo Ball, better than the previous coach.
Brandon Miller could take a leap after showing some legitimate star potential in his rookie season. A starting lineup of Ball, Miller, Miles Bridges, Mark Williams and either Josh Green or Grant Williams is pretty decent on paper.
Ball only played 22 games last year, so him being healthy could push this team’s win total up quite a bit. Mark Williams also only played 19 games. Tre Mann and Vasilije Micic showed some things in the back end of last season after being acquired from Oklahoma City.

The Case for the Under
They won 21 games last year and had the point differential of a 17-win team, and that was with partial seasons from Gordon Hayward, Terry Rozier, and PJ Washington. They were really bad and would need to take major strides to hit the over.
Mark Williams can’t stay healthy. He’s already hurt, and they don’t have great depth behind him. Ball has also struggled to stay healthy, and
With new management, there might not be an expectation to get better or any rush to get competitive right away.
There’s not a lot of defensive talent on this team, so I’m not sure how they will get stops. They’re still a young team, with multiple likely rotation guys that I’m not sure impact winning yet.

Conclusion

This team is more talented than the other bottom teams in the league, but not that much better. Combine that with the health concerns of Ball and Williams, and I’m just not very confident in this team. I’ll take the under.
