2022 Free Agents - E'Twaun Moore
Summary
I was surprised that Moore only got a one-year minimum contract with Phoenix in 2020, as I thought he could be a solid 7th or 8th man. Instead, Moore barely cracked the rotation for that deep Suns team, and settled for another minimum contract with the Magic in 2021, where he was unable to make an impact during the season.
Moore is a good outside shooter, and has some play-making ability. He doesn't have great size for a wing, as he's more of a combo-guard sized player, but he can defend most perimeter players adequately, especially against second units.
He's generally a well-liked vet that could be a solid locker room presence and someone that could provide spacing next for young developing teams, which is the reason Orlando signed him in 2021. Moore will be 33 as a free agent in 2022, and it looks like he will be on minimum contracts for the rest of his NBA career, which could be short-lived.
Cap Considerations
Moore was waived by the Magic during the '21-'22 season in order to create a roster spot for Bol Bol at the trade deadline.
Teams will have multiple ways to sign Moore as even teams without cap space could possibly use any of the Non-Taxpayer MLE, Taxpayer MLE, or the Room MLE or Bi-Annual Exception to sign him. Since Moore had to settle for the minimum in 2021, he will likely have to do so again in 2022, and may not even get fully-guaranteed offers.
Potential Teams: Kings, Rockets, Thunder, Pistons, Magic
Predicted Contract: 1-year, $2.9 million (non-guaranteed) with the Kings
