2022 Free Agents - Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot

Summary
Luwawu-Cabarrot seemed to have revived his career in '19-'20, hitting 39% of his threes, including 48% from the corners. However, his three-point shooting was down to 34% in '20-'21, which is above his rate from early in his career, but still below average. He shot it at a similar rate (36%) in '21-'22, and once again he's been great from the corners (46%). Due to his track record, it seems like TLC is just an average shooter at best, and I don't think he provides enough else to really be a solid rotational piece. He's a poor finisher at the rim, and doesn't make plays for others.

Luwawu-Cabarrot serviceable at best on defense, and his skinny frame makes it difficult to defend bigger wings. TLC needs to either improve his craft around the rim, or hit shots at a higher rate, to be more than just someone that can fill spot minutes during the regular season as a 10th or 11th man.

Cap Considerations
Luwawu-Cabarrot will be an unrestricted free agent with a $1.8 million cap hold and Non-Bird Rights. This means that the highest starting salary the Hawks could offer him using the Non-Bird Exception is $2.7 million. This should be enough to retain Luwawu-Cabarrot, since he settled for the minimum of $1.9 million to come to Atlanta. Alternatively, the Hawks could use their Mid-Level Exception to re-sign Luwawu-Cabarrot if he demands more than $2.7 million.

Other teams will have multiple ways to sign Luwawu-Cabarrot as even teams without cap space could possibly use any of the Non-Taxpayer MLE, Taxpayer MLE, Room MLE, or Bi-Annual Exception to sign him. It's also likely that Luwawu-Cabarrot only gets minimum offers.

Potential Teams: Hawks, Nuggets, Clippers, Grizzlies, Pelicans
