2022 Free Agents - Jeremy Lamb
Summary
Lamb has struggled to stay on the court in recent seasons, as he only played in 137 games combined over the past three seasons. He shot a career-high 42% from three in '20-'21, but the sample size was fairly small, so his career-average of 34% is probably more representative of what you can expect for him going forward, which is also what he shot from outside in '21-'22.
Lamb isn't someone you want dominating the ball, but he can create his own shot getting to pullups or step-back jumpers. He doesn't get to the rim very often, and struggles to finish when he does get there, but he is a good midrange shooter.
Lamb rebounds well for a wing, and has good defensive metrics with good block and steal rates. He has decent size to guard multiple positions, but is overmatched against the best wings in the league. Lamb isn't a starting-level wing, but he probably belongs at the back end of a rotation.
Cap Considerations
Lamb will be an unrestricted free agent with a $20 million cap hold and full Bird Rights. Since the Kings will likely be operating over the salary cap, they will retain Lamb's Bird rights, and have no restrictions on re-signing him.
Other teams will have multiple ways to sign Lamb as even teams without cap space could possibly use any of the Non-Taxpayer MLE, Taxpayer MLE, or possibly even the Room MLE or Bi-Annual Exception to sign him. There's also a possibility that Lamb could be available with just a minimum contract offer.
Potential Teams: Cavaliers, Kings, Grizzlies, Timberwolves, Bulls
Predicted Contract: 2-year, $10 million with the Cavaliers
