2022 Free Agents - Andre Iguodala

Summary
At age 38, Iguodala is certainly on the downside of his career. While the Warriors had hopes that he could still contribute in important moments by being one of the smartest players in the league and still having some defensive ability to slow down the elite wings in the NBA, he didn't have an impact in the playoffs.

Iguodala has really struggled on the offensive end in recent years. His shooting numbers are down across the board, especially with his finishing at the rim. Overall, he's also just not taking many shots. While Iguodala can certainly impact his team without scoring, if he becomes a complete non-threat to score he may become a liability in the playoffs if teams just ignore him, as that somewhat neutralizes his high-level passing game.

I wouldn't expect Iguodala to get more than the minimum as a free agent in 2022, and I wouldn't be surprised if he retires.

Cap Considerations
Iguodala will be an unrestricted free agent with a $1.8 million cap hold and Non-Bird Rights. This means that the highest starting salary the Warriors could offer him using the Non-Bird Exception is $3.4 million. Alternatively, the Warriors could use their Taxpayer Mid-Level Exception to re-sign Iguodala if he demands more than $3.4 million.

Other teams will have multiple ways to sign Iguodala as even teams without cap space could likely use any of the Non-Taxpayer MLE, Taxpayer MLE, Room MLE, or Bi-Annual Exception to sign him. It's also possible that he only gets minimum offers.

Potential Teams: Warriors, Nets, Trailblazers, Clippers, Lakers

Predicted Contract: 1-year, $2.9 million ($1.8 million cap hit) with the Warriors

Actual Contract: 1-year, $2.9 million ($1.8 million cap hit) with the Warriors

Iguodala ended up signing another one-year minimum contract, and it looks like this will be his final season.
