2022 Free Agents - Udonis Haslem
Summary
After the '20-'21 season, I once again expected Haslem to retire. Instead, the Heat re-signed Haslem for another one-year minimum contract. He only played in one game in '20-'21 (hilariously getting rejected in three minutes), eight games in '21-'22, and only in 58 total games over the past six seasons. At this point in his career, Haslem is more of a coach than he is a player, and once again I expect him to retire this offseason, finishing a 19-year long career with the Heat.
Cap Considerations
Haslem will be an unrestricted free agent with a $1.8 million cap hold and full Bird Rights. Since the Heat will likely be operating over the salary cap, they will retain Haslem's Bird rights, and have no restrictions on re-signing him. I don't expect any offers for Haslem to be above the minimum, and he may retire after this season (although I've been saying that for multiple years now).
Potential Teams: Heat
Predicted Contract: Retire
If he continues playing: 1-year, $2.9 million ($1.8 million cap hit) with the Heat
Actual Contract: 1-year, $2.9 million ($1.8 million cap hit) with the Heat
Once again, Haslem signed another one-year minimum contract with the Heat, and it seems like this is the final one, although I've thought that multiple times before.
