2022 Free Agents - De'Andre Bembry

Summary
Bembry had his best season in '18-'19, playing in all 82 games for the Hawks at just under 23 minutes per game. However, that may have just been due to how bad the Hawks were that season, as Bembry didn't show enough in '19-'20 to get anything more than a minimum contract from Toronto in 2020. Despite having some nice moments for the Raptors, the league didn't seem show much interest in him in 2021 either, as he settled for a lightly-guaranteed minimum contract with the Nets.

Bembry's offense primarily comes at the rim, as his percentage of shot attempts at the rim has been near the top of the league for his position each of his six seasons so far, according to Cleaning the Glass. After struggling to finish consistently at the rim early in his career, he has been above-average at converting these shots over the past two seasons.

What hurts Bembry is his lack of an outside shot, as he's a career 28% three-point shooter. At that rate, it's hard for any wing to get consistent minutes for a good team. That number will have to be significantly improved in order to be respected as a shooter. Bembry did improve that rate in '21-'22, hitting 38%, but the sample size is too small to really make any real determination that his shot has materially improved.

Bembry gave the Nets some decent wing play when they were short-handed, but he was waived mid-way through the season and signed with the Bucks. After just eight games with Milwaukee, Bembry suffered a serious knee injury and was waived. He will also likely miss the majority of the '22-'23 season.

Cap Considerations
Bembry was waived by the Bucks near the end of the '21-'22 season, and did not finish the season on an NBA roster.

Teams will have multiple ways to sign Bembry as even teams without cap space could possibly use any of the Non-Taxpayer MLE, Taxpayer MLE, Room MLE, or Bi-Annual Exception to sign him. Since he will likely miss the majority of the year, he will likely only get minimum offers, and may even just go unsigned until 2023.

Potential Teams: Bucks, Warriors, 76ers, Jazz, Heat
