Summary
After cashing in on a 4-year, $106 million contract in 2017, Porter has been unable to live up to that contract. In his first season after signing that deal, Porter played 77 games for the Wizards and shot 45% from three, but since then has not played like the high-level 3-and-D player that the Wizards hoped he would be. While his shooting numbers are still really good, he's not a high-volume guy and defenses don't exactly treat him like a great shooter. He has also struggled with health, only playing in 14 games in the '19-'20 season.

Porter has looked better so far this season, moving well and hitting 39% from three. He's not someone that can create off the bounce, and isn't really a playmaker, but I think you can trust him to hit shots and finish off of cuts if you have enough creation around him. Porter still has good size for a wing and can hit shots at a good rate, so if he can stay healthy I think teams will have interest as a solid rotational wing, even if he's not seen as a starting-level player anymore.

Cap Considerations
Porter will be an unrestricted free agent with full Bird rights. As his cap hold ($33.7 million) exceeds the salary he will get in free agency, his cap hold is not really relevant. The Magic will not have cap space, and if they re-sign Porter, his cap hold will be replaced by his starting salary. If Porter is brought back by the Magic on a multi-year contract, they could benefit from frontloading his contract, as it could give them additional flexibility in the future.

Other teams will have multiple ways to sign Porter as even teams without cap space could possibly use any of the Non-Taxpayer, Taxpayer, or possibly even the Room Mid-Level Exceptions to sign him.

Potential Teams: Kings, Spurs, Pelicans, Grizzlies, Bulls

Predicted Contract: 3-year, $20 million with the Kings

Actual Contract: 1-year, $2.4 million ($1.7 million cap hit) with the Warriors

My prediction (especially the years) was a little bold for Porter considering he hasn't been able to stay healthy. If he can stay on the floor, I think he can really help the Warriors as a solid two-way wing.
