Summary
Despite having an encouraging rookie season, Kurucs has mightily struggled over the past two seasons, and he may not even be in the league next season. In '18-'19, Kurucs was a promising 6'9" rookie that showed flashes of ball-handling and playmaking skills. Wings with that size and skill are not easy to find. His efficiency numbers weren't great, but he shot well enough from outside to have a league-average eFG% for his position, according to Cleaning the Glass. For a rookie, that's not bad.
However, Kurucs dealt with some off-the-court issues the next summer, and saw his minutes decline in the '19-'20 season as the Nets added some depth at the wing with Taurean Prince and Garrett Temple entering the mix. Kurucs barely played this past season and was traded twice, once as part of the James Harden trade then again as part of the PJ Tucker trade, before ultimately being waived by Milwaukee. As Kurucs is only 23 and has shown promise in the semi-recent past, he may get some interest, but I'm not sure if he'll even be able to get a fully-guaranteed contract this summer.
Cap Considerations
Kurucs was waived by the Bucks this season, and has yet to be signed by an NBA team. Teams will have multiple ways to sign Kurucs as even teams without cap space could possibly use any of the Non-Taxpayer MLE, Taxpayer MLE, or possibly even the Room MLE or Bi-Annual Exception to sign him. It's also likely that Kurucs could be signed for the minimum.
Potential Teams: Pistons, Jazz, Pacers, Cavaliers, Trailblazers
Predicted Contract: 1-year, $1.8 million (non-guaranteed) with the Pistons.
