Summary

Hezonja spent this past season overseas, and while I haven't been following his play there, I think it may take some time before an NBA team gives him another chance. Hezonja was never able to score consistently at any kind of efficient rate. Additionally, those that worried about Hezonja's defense and attitude were correct, as Hezonja struggled on defense and has occasionally pouted out of frustration.

Hezonja has good size that allows him to play the four, which is necessary as he cannot be trusted to stay in front of wings on defense. If Hezonja can do a better job of using his scoring ability to attack of the catch as a secondary playmaker, he could make it back to the NBA. If he doesn't, and continues to hit outside shots at a below-average rate, he may not ever make it back, if he even wants that.

Cap Considerations

Hezonja was waived by the Grizzlies last offseason after being traded from Portland, and has yet to be signed by an NBA team. Teams will have multiple ways to sign Hezonja as even teams without cap space could possibly use any of the Non-Taxpayer MLE, Taxpayer MLE, or possibly even the Room MLE or Bi-Annual Exception to sign him. It's also likely that Hezonja could be signed for the minimum.
