Summary
Ennis is your classic "solid at everything, great at nothing" wing. He's a solid shooter, but not someone that strikes fear in defenses when he's left open. He also doesn't shoot enough from outside to be treated like a threat, as volume has shown to be as important as accuracy in regards to the gravity that players attract from defenses. He can attack a closeout and make a play or finish at the rim, but doesn't do so at an elite level.
On defense, Ennis has the size and athleticism to guard multiple positions, but isn't a lockdown defender or someone that is super disruptive off the ball. All-in-all, Ennis is a solid wing that can take up some minutes during the regular season, but isn't someone you want to have to count on when the games matter the most.
Cap Considerations
Ennis will be an unrestricted free agent with a $6.3 million cap hold and full Bird rights. Since the Magic will be operating over the salary cap, they will retain Ennis's Bird rights, and have no restrictions on re-signing him. Depending on Ennis's salary, re-signing him could preclude the Magic from using the full MLE, as doing both might push them over the luxury tax line depending on his salary and what happens with their other free agents.
Other teams will have multiple ways to sign Ennis as even teams without cap space could possibly use any of the Non-Taxpayer MLE, Taxpayer MLE, or possibly even the Room MLE or Bi-Annual Exception to sign him. There's also a chance that Ennis ends up settling for the minimum.
Potential Teams: Wizards, Magic, Hornets, Spurs, Jazz
Predicted Contract: 1-year, $2.2 million with the Wizards
