Summary
Dellavedova was re-signed by Cleveland last summer to be a veteran presence for their young guards, but after suffering a concussion during the preseason, he only played in 13 games this past season. There already didn't seem to be much market for Dellavedova, as he signed a one-year minimum contract last offseason. I would expect Dellavedova to be a minimum-level player for the rest of his career, and he may not even get a fully-guaranteed contract this summer.
The former Saint Mary's Gael is your stereotypical scrappy point guard. Despite Dellavedova having a limited skillset and below-average athleticism, he has been able to stick around in the league by playing hard and making few mistakes. Delly has shot a good percentage from three throughout his career, but those have been on a limited number of attempts, and he cannot create shots for himself. Dellavedova is likely best served as a third point guard at this stage of his career.
Cap Considerations
Dellavedova will be an unrestricted free agent with a $1.7 million cap hold and full Bird Rights, meaning the Cavs will have no restrictions on re-signing him.
Other teams will have multiple ways to sign Dellavedova as even teams without cap space could possibly use any of the Non-Taxpayer MLE, Taxpayer MLE, or possibly even the Room MLE or Bi-Annual Exception to sign him. It's also most likely Dellavedova would only demand the minimum.
Potential Teams: Pelicans, Wizards, Celtics, Cavaliers, Suns
Predicted Contract: 1-year, $2.4 million (non-guaranteed) with the Pelicans
