Summary
In his three seasons in the NBA, Zizic probably hasn't shown enough to prove he belongs in the NBA. Zizic got very few minutes in his first and third seasons, playing under 200 minutes of non-garbage time, according to Cleaning the Glass. However, Zizic played a decently significant number of minutes in the '18-'19 season, as he even started 25 games for the Cavs.
Zizic has some decent touch around the rim, and uses that touch to have above-average percentages at the rim, but he doesn't finish at an elite level. On the defensive end, Zizic is pretty slow-footed, which makes it difficult for him to guard the pick-and-roll or defend in space. Zizic doesn't rebound well enough and isn't skilled enough to make up for his shortcomings in a manner similar to Enes Kanter, and unless he makes improvements fast, he'll be out of the NBA soon.
Cap Considerations
Zizic had the fourth year of his rookie option declined, so he will be a unrestricted free agent with a $3.9 million cap hold and limited Bird Rights. The highest starting salary the Cavs can offer is the $3.9 million amount of the option year that was declined.
If another team has interest in signing Zizic, they could pry him away from Cleveland by offering him more than the $3.9 million that the Cavs can offer, by either using cap space or any of the Non-Taxpayer, Taxpayer, or Room Mid-Level Exceptions to sign him. However, I don't expect any offers for Zizic to be above the minimum.
Potential Teams: Hornets, Pistons, Wizards, Trailblazers, Timberwolves
Predicted Contract: 1-year, $1.7 million (partially-guaranteed) with the Hornets.
Actual Contract: N/A
As of the start of the regular season, Zizic remains unsigned.
