Summary

Tolliver is almost exclusively a stretch big at this stage of his career - over the past two seasons, 76% of Tolliver's field goal attempts came from behind the three point line. Tolliver does not bring much else to the table, as his defense and rebounding leave a lot to be desired. Against the right bench lineups Tolliver can knock some shots while also surviving defensively.

I do not expect Tolliver to get much playing time in the playoffs, but if he can give teams some shooting throughout the regular season, he will be able to extend his career.

Cap Considerations

Tolliver will be an unrestricted free agent with a $1.6 million cap hold and Non-Bird Rights. This means that the highest starting salary the Grizzlies could offer him using the Non-Bird Exception is $3.1 million. This could be enough to retain Tolliver, since he settled for the minimum of $2.6 million last summer. Alternatively, the Grizzlies could use their Mid-Level Exception or Bi-Annual Exception to re-sign Tolliver if he demands more than $3.1 million.

Other teams will have multiple ways to sign Tolliver as even teams without cap space could possibly use any of the Non-Taxpayer, Taxpayer, or Room Mid-Level Exceptions to sign him. Since he signed a minimum contract last summer, teams will hope to get him at the minimum this upcoming offseason too.

Potential Teams: Spurs, Grizzlies, Nets, 76ers, Jazz

Predicted Contract: 1-year, $2.6 million ($1.6 million cap hit) with the Spurs

Actual Contract: N/A

As of the start of the regular season, Tolliver remains unsigned.
