Summary

Neto will not wow you with incredible plays, but he rarely makes mistakes and will take advantage when defenses don't respect him. He works hard on defense, despite not having the length or athleticism to be super disruptive on that end. Due to his limitations on offense, Neto is unlikely to be deserving of minutes when the games count the most. However, he can be a reliable backup option at point guard during the regular season.

Cap Considerations

Neto will be an unrestricted free agent with a $1.6 million cap hold and Non-Bird Rights. This means that the highest starting salary the 76ers could offer him using the Non-Bird Exception is $2.3 million. This could be enough to retain Neto since he settled for the minimum of $1.7 million to come to Philadelphia. Alternatively, the 76ers could use their Mid-Level Exception to re-sign Neto if he demands more than $2.3 million.

Other teams will have multiple ways to sign Neto as even teams without cap space could possibly use any of the Non-Taxpayer, Taxpayer, or Room Mid-Level Exceptions to sign him. Since he signed a minimum contract this summer, teams will hope to get him at the minimum next summer too.

Potential Teams: Pistons, 76ers, Hornets, Hawks, Suns

Predicted Contract: 1-year, $1.9 million ($1.6 million cap hit) with the Pistons

Actual Contract: 1-year, $1.9 million ($1.6 million cap hit) with the Wizards

Neto signed a one-year minimum contract with Washington, and I'm a little surprised they signed Neto rather than re-signing Napier.
