Summary
After briefly falling out of the league in 2017, Green had found a role for himself on this version of the Rockets. However, Green suffered a broken fit before the start of this past season, and was later traded to Denver, where he was subsequently waived. If Green can prove to be healthy going into this offseason, he may get interest from teams looking for reliable veterans that they can sign for the minimum.
The vast majority of Green's field goal attempts are three pointers, and he hits them at a decent rate. On the defensive end, he's below-average, but serviceable. Despite being almost 34 years old, Green still has enough athleticism to stay in front of many wings. However, he has never been the most heady defender, so his off-ball defense leaves a lot to be desired.
Cap Considerations
Green was waived by the Nuggets in February and did not sign another NBA contract. Daryl Morey stated that the Rockets would have had interest had they been allowed to re-sign him, but CBA rules prohibit a team from re-signing a player they traded away and was subsequently waived. Green has signed one-year minimum offers with Houston the past two offseasons, and it might become a three-peat soon.
Potential Teams: Rockets, Heat, Trailblazers, Jazz, Mavericks
Predicted Contract: 1-year, $2.6 million ($1.6 million cap hit) with Rockets.
Actual Contract: 1-year, $2.6 million (non-guaranteed) with Rockets.
The Rockets gave Green a chance with a non-guaranteed contract, but ended up waiving before the regular season.
