Summary
Galloway's role has become pretty clear, as the majority of his shots attemps come from behind the three point line. Galloway rarely ever gets to the rim, and has lowered his midrange shooting attempts in recent years. Galloway is quick enough to make one or two-dribble moves off the catch, which is important for shooters. This allows him to attack hard-close outs and actually make a play. However, Galloway is not someone that can create for others, so he needs to hit shots at a decent rate to be a quality rotational player.
Cap Considerations
Galloway will be an unrestricted free agent with a $19.3 million cap hold and full Bird rights. As his cap hold exceeds the salary he will get in free agency, his cap hold is not really relevant.
If the Pistons re-sign Galloway, his cap hold will be replaced by his starting salary, and the Pistons will still have plenty of cap space available. If the Pistons renounce Galloway (and all their other free agents) to remove his cap hold and maximize their cap space, they could only bring him back using that cap space or the $4.8 million Room MLE, or on a minimum contract.
Other teams will have multiple ways to sign Galloway as even teams without cap space could possibly use any of the Non-Taxpayer, Taxpayer, or Room Mid-Level Exceptions to sign him.

Potential Teams: 76ers, Rockets, Pistons, Bucks, Pacers
Predicted Contract: 3-year, $9 million with the 76ers
Actual Contract: 1-year, $2 million ($1.6 million cap hit) with the Suns
I thought the Suns did a great job of getting Galloway for the minimum, as I valued him slightly above that amount.
