Summary
Daniels was waived by the Lakers in March, and signed with the Nuggets for the rest of the season. Despite being an above-average three point shooter, Daniels was unable to find consistent minutes on the Lakers.
Despite being a good shooter, Daniels just doesn't bring enough else to the table to warranty significant minutes on a good team. Daniels's field goal percentage at the rim is near the bottom of the league. However, he knows that and thus takes very few shots from there. Teams may be interested in Daniels as a spark plug shooter off the bench, but will likely only be interested in giving him a minimum contract.
Cap Considerations
Daniels will be an unrestricted free agent with a $1.6 million cap hold and Non-Bird Rights. This means that the highest starting salary the Nuggets could offer him using the Non-Bird Exception is $2.6 million. This would likely be enough to retain Daniels, since he settled for the minimum of $2 million last summer. Alternatively, the Nuggets could use their Mid-Level Exception or Bi-Annual Exception to re-sign Daniels if he demands more than $2.6 million.
Other teams will have multiple ways to sign Daniels as even teams without cap space could possibly use any of the Non-Taxpayer, Taxpayer, or Room Mid-Level Exceptions to sign him. Since he signed a minimum contract last offseason, teams will hope to get him at the minimum this offseason too.
Potential Teams: Nuggets, Clippers, Magic, Heat, Pistons
Predicted Contract: 1-year, $2.2 million ($1.6 million cap hit) with the Nuggets
Actual Contract: N/A

As of the start of the regular season, Daniels remains unsigned.
