Summary

It was not long ago that Anderson was a vital player for a championship contender. In '16-'17, Anderson shot 41% from three as the Rockets developed their current identity with Mike D'Antoni and James Harden. The next season, Anderson shot 38% from three in 66 games while playing over 25 minutes per game for a team that came dangerously close to beating the Golden State Warriors. However, during the playoffs Anderson's minutes were cut almost to zero, as his defensive struggles started to outweigh his offensive contributions.

While Anderson may not be able to play against certain opponents, I believe he could still contribute to a competitive team throughout the regular season. Anderson's ability to hit deep threes can open up the offense, allowing more space and bigger driving lanes. If Anderson can still hit threes at a good rate, he may once again show he still belongs in the NBA.

Cap Considerations

Anderson was waived by the Rockets during the preseason, and did not sign another NBA contract. While his time in the NBA might be over, there's a possibility that a team will give him a chance with a non-guaranteed or partially-guaranteed minimum contract.

Potential Teams: Warriors, Celtics, Trailblazers, Nets, Lakers

Predicted Contract: 1-year, $2.6 million ($1.6 million cap hit) with the Warriors

Actual Contract: N/A

As of the start of the '20-'21 regular season, Anderson remains unsigned. It's likely his NBA career his over.
