Russell will be a restricted free agent this summer unless the Nets refuse to tender him a Qualifying Offer, which despite Russell's breakout All-Star season, could occur since Russell also has a very high cap hold of $21.1 million, which the Nets may want off their books in order to chase big name free agents.

The former #2 overall pick has shown flashes of great scoring ability, but not much else in his 4-year career. Russell shot above average from three (37%) this season, but a poor 55% at the rim, per Cleaning the Glass. His shooting ability and the fact that he'll only be 23 next summer are intriguing, and it only takes one team to really like him to get him a big contract.

One option the Nets could explore his giving Russell a contract in which he is paid the max next season ($27.25 million), but decreases in salary over the life of the contract, looking something like this:

2019-2020: $27.25 million

2020-2021: $25.07 million

2021-2022: $22.89 million
2022-2023: $20.71 million

Total:           $95.92 million

With the rumors of Kyrie Irving signing with the Nets, it seems unlikely that Russell will return to Brooklyn.

Potential Teams: Suns, Nets, Celtics, Lakers

Predicted Contract: 4-year, $90 million, with Suns

Predicted Contract: 4-year, $90 million, with Suns

*Actual Contract: 4-year, $117.3 million, with Warriors

Full 4-year max for Russell.
