After the Nuggets' successful season, it's difficult not to attribute some of that success to the addition by subtraction that occurred after trading away Mudiay. Despite having a great deal of promise coming out of the draft in 2015, Mudiay has struggled to impact winning. He struggles to score efficiently, isn't the playmaker that he was projected to be, and hasn't used his size to be the defender that he could be.

However, he is only 23 years old, and has had games with decent numbers in New York. The Knicks would have to offer Mudiay a $5.8 million Qualifying Offer to make him a restricted free agent this summer, which is exteremly unlikely, especially given their free agency aspirations. Mudiay will become an unrestricted free agent this summer, and his agent will try to convince a team that there is still a high level of upside for the young point guard.

Potential Teams: Hornets, Wizards, Bulls, Suns, Magic

Predicted Contract: 1-year, $1.7 million ($1.6 million cap hit) with the Hornets

*Actual Contract: 1-year, $1.7 million ($1.6 million cap hit) with the Jazz.

Mudiay has not proven he can be a positive contributor to a winning team, and it's probably not a coincidence that the Nuggets excelled after dealing him (although there were other factors involved). With Raul Neto gone and Dante Exum injury prone, Mudiay could get meaningful minutes with the Jazz.
