Middleton surprised many back in the 2014-2015 season with a breakout year that earned him a 5-year, $70 million contract. Middleton is a solid defender and one of the best shooters in the league. After shooting over 40% from three from 2013-2017, his percentages have dipped a bit in the past two seasons, to 36% last season and 38% this season, per Cleaning the Glass, but Middleton made his first All-Star team and the second best player on a Bucks team that has been arguably the best team in basketball this season.
Potential Teams: Bucks, Lakers, Nets, Mavericks
Predicted Contract: 5-year, $170 million, with Bucks
*Actual Contract: 5-year, $177.5 million (player option), with Bucks.
Middleton getting slightly under the full 5-year max was pretty expected, and was able to get a player option on the final year in exchange for taking slightly less.
