Boban is a difficult player to project as a free agent. He is coming off a 3-year, $21 million contract he signed with Detroit in 2016, and I think it will be difficult to get another contract at that level.
Boban's free agency will likely depend on how the Sixers do in the playoffs, and the decisions of Jimmy Butler and Tobias Harris. If the Sixers bring back Butler and Harris, they'll remain over the salary cap, and Boban will have some leverage as the Sixers will have to choose between bringing him back or losing him with no cap space to replace him. However, the Sixers will want to avoid the luxury tax if they bring back Butler, Harris, and Redick, so they could choose to find a backup center for the minimum instead of bringing back Boban.

Boban has shown his value in stints, as he can at times dominate games offensively in ways no other backup center can do. On the other hand, he can get eaten alive when forced to defend on the perimeter on in pick and roll. His deficiencies on the defensive end caused him to fall out of the 76ers rotation when the games became most important.
Potential Teams: Knicks, Mavericks, 76ers, Spurs, Hawks
Predicted Contract: 2-year, $10 million with the Knicks
*Actual Contract: 2-year, $7 million with the Mavericks.

Boban did not get as much as I expected, but was roughly in the range of what I thought he would get. As a backup big that can be dominant in spurts, this is good value for the Mavericks.
