Kornet surprised me last summer by getting slighty more than a minimum contract from the Knicks, and it could happen again this summer. The Knicks can keep his $2.1M cap hold on the books while still having two max slots for a duo like Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, and keep his restricted rights by offering him a $2M Qualifying Offer, which is about $400K more than his minimum salary.

Because Kornet has not yet proven to be a rotation-level player, I suspect the Knicks will tender him this Qualifying Offer, and that he will accept it after failing to find something better in the restricted free agent market.

Potential Teams: Knicks, Suns, Pistons, Timberwolves, Kings

Predicted Contract: 1-year, $2 million with the Knicks

*Actual Contract: 2-year, $4.5 million with the Bulls.

Becoming an unrestricted free agent likely helped Kornet, as he was able to get a contract slightly over the minimum with Chicago, as the Bulls did not have to worry about the Knicks matching.
