The 76ers declined the $2 million 4th-year option of Korkmaz's rookie contract, so he will be an unrestricted free agent this summer. In addition, the 76ers will not be allowed to offer Korkmaz more than his $2 million option amount if they want to bring him back.
While Korkmaz hasn't shown enough to be a reliable rotational piece on a competitive team, I expect at least one team to find his shooting ability intriguing enough to pry him away from Philadelphia.
Potential Teams: Grizzlies, Magic, Thunder, Pacers, Pelicans
Predicted Contract: 1-year, $3 million with the Grizzlies
*Actual Contract: 2-year, $3.4 million (2nd year non-guaranteed) with the 76ers.

If I were Philadelphia, I would have tried to get Korkmaz on a team option for the 2020-2021 season, rather than a non-guaranteed contract. That way, if Korkmaz has a breakout year, they could decline his team option and make him a restricted free agent. Now, if he has a breakout year, the 76ers would keep him through the second year, and he would become an unrestricted free agent in 2021.
