Smith has been an important player for the Pistons, as his on/off numbers show. With a +5.4 net rating, Smith was in the 82nd percentile among point guards. Although he has never been an efficient shooter or scorer, Smith has a knack for getting in the lane and making plays.

After bouncing around for the beginning years of his career, Smith has established himself as a quality backup point guard after signing a 3-year, $18 million contract in 2016. Nearing 31 years old, teams will be wary of giving him a long-term contract. Smith will have leverage with the Pistons though, as they will not have cap space to replace him if he leaves in free agency.

Potential Teams: Pistons, Wizards, Kings, Trailblazers, Suns

Predicted Contract: 2-year, $15 million with the Pistons

*Actual Contract: 2-year, $12 million with the Wizards.

This is in the range I expected for Smith, who has proven to be a solid backup point guard, but will likely start with John Wall expected to miss a majority of the upcoming season.
