The Nets will have a difficult decision to make before June 29th, and that's whether to tender Hollis-Jefferson a $4.9 million Qualifying Offer to make him a restricted free agent. If they do, RHJ will have a cap hold of $7.4 million, and will be able to sign that Qualifying Offer at any time. This could cut into the Nets' cap space should they chase after big-name free agents. The Nets will then have until July 13 to rescind the Qualifying Offer without RHJ's consent and still retain his Bird rights.
Players very rarely take the Qualifying Offer early in free agency, so the Nets can take the risk and hope they can back out if need be. Hollis-Jefferson is an athletic, versatile defender, but hasn't shown enough on the offensive side to be a surefire starter.
Potential Teams: Nets, Mavericks, Bulls, Cavaliers
Predicted Contract: 1-year, $8 million with the Nets
*Actual Contract: 1-year, $2.5 million with the Raptors.

I was surprised there wasn't more of a market for Hollis-Jefferson, but he will need to either develop more offensively to be a utilized as a power forward, or protect the rim more effectively to be used as a small-ball center.
