Cousins is a difficult player to project what his market will be this summer. After missing most of the season due to a torn Achilles, Cousins tore his quad on the first game of the postseason. Cousins had moments during the season where he showed his All-Star level talent, but his injury risk will scare away many teams. In the Finals, Cousins showed both sides of his play, at times making a big impact, and other times looking unplayable. Cousins's best chance of getting paid is a team with a lot of cap space strikes out in free agency and offers him a large short-term deal.

The Warriors will only be allowed to offer Cousins $6.4M next season, unless both Thompson and Durant leave. If just one of them leaves, the Warriors could offer Cousins $9.2M next season by using the Non-Taxpayer Mid-Level Exception, but would likely have to waive Livingston and only sign minimum-contracts outside of their top 5.

Potential Teams: Knicks, Mavericks, Warriors, Nets, Clippers

Predicted Contract: 1-year $15 million with the Knicks

*Actual Contract: 1-year $3 million with the Lakers.

Apparently teams were concerned with Cousins's health, and rightly so considering he will now miss the entire 2019-2020 season. I thought Cousins might get a decent-sized one-year, "prove it" type contract, but only could get $3 million from the Lakers.
