Cook will be a restricted free agent this summer if the Warriors tender him a $1.9 million Qualifying Offer, which I expect them to do given that it's not much higher than his minimum salary of $1.67 million.

Cook's agent will try to convince teams to sign him to an offer sheet big enough that the Warriors refuse to match. He will also try to convince the Warriors that locking up Cook for a reasonable long-term contract will solidify their backup point guard spot for years to come. T

he Warriors will likely let Cook test the restricted free agent market, which is often unfriendly to players of his caliber. This may cause Cook to settle for the $1.9 million Qualifying Offer with Golden State and become an unrestricted free agent in 2020.

Potential Teams: Warriors, Bulls, Suns, Pistons, Pacers

Predicted Contract: 1-year, $1.9 million with the Warriors

*Actual Contract: 2-year, $6 million (2nd year $1 million guaranteed) with the Lakers.

Becoming an unrestricted free agent helped Cook, as he was able to sign with the Lakers without his new team having any fears about the Warriors matching.
