Birch will be a restricted free agent if the Magic tender him a $1.82 million qualifying offer, which I expect them to do as he played well in a backup center role as Mo Bamba struggled in his rookie season.
Birch might struggle to find many offers as a restricted free agent, and could end up settling for the qualifying offer. Many teams might think Birch hasn't proven to be worth more than his minimum of $1.62 million, and others may not want to offer enough that the Magic would refuse to match. Birch could play a heavier role for the Magic next season if Nikola Vucevic leaves in free agency.
Potential Teams: Magic, Hawks, Bulls
Predicted Contract: 1-year, $1.8 million with the Magic
*Actual Contract: 2-year, $6 million with the Magic.

I thought Birch would struggle to find offers as I restricted free agent, but the Magic gave him a decent offer above the minimum.
