Arcidiacono has been a pleasant surprise for the Bulls, earning more minutes than anyone expected out of the former undrafted player. The Bulls can make him a restricted free agent this summer by tendering him a $1.8 million Qualifying Offer, which could be a difficult, if not highly consequential, decision. The former Villanova Wildcat has not proven to be more than a minimum contract of $1.6 million, but Chicago may be fine with him getting a slight overpay if it means keeping his restricted rights.
For Arcidiacono and his agent, they will have to determine how long they want to look for an offer sheet in restricted free agency before signing the Qualifying Offer, as the Bulls can renounce the offer at any time before July 13. If I were Arcidiacono's agent, I would recommend signing the Qualifying Offer immediately if it's available, as I don't expect another team to offer him more than the minimum.
Potential Teams: Bulls, 76ers, Magic, Hornets, Pelicans
Predicted Contract: 1-year, $1.8 million with the Bulls
*Actual Contract: 3-year, $9 million (3rd year team option) with the Bulls.

I'm not sure who else was planning on paying Arcidiacono more than the minimum, so it's unclear why the Bulls agreed to give him substantially more than the minimum. It's not a large cost, and the Bulls clearly believe in his abilities more than I do, but I still think it's an overpay.
